Research Participant Bill of Rights
Please read and consider the below. We take ethics in research seriously, and value the comfort, rights, and needs of our research participants. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to engage us, we welcome discussion. Your boundaries are important to us.
- I can ask questions about the interview, about Corellian, or about the interviewer at any time.
- I do not have to answer any question that I do not want to.
- I can refuse to be recorded via audio, video, or both, for the entirety-of or only for a portion of the interview.
- I understand, that at this time, no AI (Artificial Intelligence) tooling is being used to support this research—and if that should change, Corellian will request my consent.
- I can leave an interview or study at any time.
- I can provide confidential feedback on my interview experience to Corellian staff. To facilitate this potential need, Kellan Green (kellan@corelliansoft.com), and Avery LaPan (avery@corelliansoft.com) have availed themselves for this purpose, and have committed to the highest standards of respect, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
- I must approve the use of any quotes attributed to me that are used publicly, whether on a website, in the press, on social media, or any other capacity.
- Once a quote has been published, I have the right to request it be taken down at any point in the future.

Personnel: All user research efforts involving customers are conducted with Corellian Software staff and trusted consultants, only. We follow strict information management in these efforts, as detailed below. All staff and contractors are obligated to honor confidentiality and have agreed to behave within Corellian Software’s Code of Conduct.
The user research leads for our 2023 efforts, are:
Nina Eleanor Alter, Corellian contractor · https://bigwheel.net
Ashley Bennett, Product Manager, Corellian · https://www.corelliansoft.com
Notes and recordings: We will take notes during research sessions. If we wish to record you, we will request your permission at the beginning of each session, and will always honor your preference. Recorded audio and video are saved to Google’s cloud services. Recordings are shared only internally among Corellian team members. It is our intention to destroy interviews, within 1 calendar year of their recording.
Raw notes will not be shared with anyone outside of Corellian, and any excerpted information or quotations that are used in presentations, publications, or funding applications will be made anonymous—unless attribution is sought. Should the latter be the case, we will not act without your written permission.
To support meetings, research, and product development, we are trialing a few different AI services. We are sensitive to the ethics of AI, data scraping, and participant privacy. If our use of AI with any notes or recordings of you put you at unease, we encourage you to engage us directly. Should you desire to disallow our use of AI with your interview, we will honor that request without hesitation.
Finally, thank you for the work you do in service to union labor, and to the building trades! It is our privilege to serve you.
